Today on Wander and Weave, I’m shining a light on some of Zimbabwe’s finest makeup artists,  queens (and kings!) who are literally redefining what creativity looks like with every brushstroke.

Some of these amazing women I’ve had the joy of working with, others I’ve admired from afar,  but all of them inspire me endlessly. Their work reminds me that makeup is not just about beauty; it’s about storytelling, confidence, and the art of becoming.

Miss Rosebud, The Queen of Soft Glam and Subtle Power

Her brand is Image Fair, but let me tell you, there’s nothing fair about the way she slays a soft glam! Miss Rosebud is a creative powerhouse, a makeup artist, model, and voice-over artist all rolled into one gorgeous package.

She has worked with top Zim names like Atenda Chinx, Noma Nyce, and Miss World Zimbabwe Courtney (yes, royalty!). Her looks are the perfect mix of effortless and elegant, think natural glow with a quiet “I run this world” energy.

Every time I see her work, I’m reminded that power doesn’t always shout, sometimes, it blends softly and lets the highlight do the talking. 

Tariro aka MuseTheMUA — The Art of Being Her Own Muse

Now, this one! Tariro is that rare gem who wears multiple creative crowns with ease, makeup artist, videographer, photographer, and honestly, a storyteller in her own right.

Her work is a visual journal of self-expression. Whether she’s behind the camera or in front of it, she captures emotion in every frame, from the flick of a brush to the flash of a lens.

She’s collaborated with big names like Chengeto Brown and top Zim models, and what I love most? She doesn’t wait for inspiration, she becomes it. Her bold use of color makes me want to play with every palette I own. She’s literally painting her dreams in real time. 

Faith aka House of Beauty — The Ultimate Glam Hub

When I say “one-stop glam,” I mean it. Faith’s House of Beauty is the dream destination for everything makeup, hair, and nails, your full glow-up station. 

She’s resilient, grounded, and fearless when it comes to new challenges. She’s collaborated with brands like Escollins Bridal, bringing elegance and confidence to every bride she touches.

What I admire most about her is how she can go from a soft, dewy bridal look to a bold, editorial red carpet moment like it’s nothing. She’s proof that true beauty professionals are artists, not just service providers.

If versatility had a face, it would be Faith’s. 💫

Essie de Souza aka BeautySecretsZW — The Picasso of the Face

Now listen, when I first stumbled upon Essie’s TikTok, I didn’t even blink. I just sat there in awe. This woman is next-level creative. Her body art is out of this world, from tiger-inspired looks to intricate Zimbabwean art painted right on her face. Talk about turning your skin into a canvas!

She’s a hardworking queen who’s done makeup for countless brides, and her signature eyebrow shape? Iconic. If you see it, you know it’s her work.

Essie reminds me that creativity has no limits, if art could talk, hers would say, “Watch me make magic with a makeup brush.”

Chido aka Chimi Beauty Creations — The Bold and the Beautiful

And then there’s Chido, the creative mind behind Chimi Beauty Creations. I’ve been following her journey since her early days, and let me tell you, her evolution is inspiring!

From her vibrant tones to her signature red lipstick looks, Chido knows how to make a statement. Her makeup is fearless, feminine, and fun,  a mix of confidence and color that makes you want to take more selfies than usual (don’t worry, we all do it). 

She’s worked on weddings, high-end shoots, and everything in between. And through it all, she continues to bring her unique energy and artistry to the beauty space in Zim.

These women aren’t just makeup artists,  they are creators of confidence, storytellers of self-expression, and painters of identity. Each one reminds us that beauty is not vanity; it’s a celebration.

In a world that often tells women to shrink, these ladies paint themselves bigger, bolder, and brighter.
