Some for a Season, Some for a Reason: My Journey with Destiny Helpers.
Some for a Season, Some for a Reason: My Journey with Destiny Helpers.
Have you ever met someone and thought, “Wow, I didn’t just bump into you by chance… this was orchestrated!” That’s the beauty of destiny helpers , those people who step into your life like divine pitstops, helping you fuel up, reset, or reroute. Some are blessings, some are lessons, and some are guides, but all of them are part of the grand, sometimes messy, always beautiful process of growth.
I’ve met so many amazing people who’ve been instrumental in shaping me. I can’t possibly name everyone (because honestly, this would turn into an encyclopedia), but if you’re reading this and you see pieces of our story here , you’ll know. 💫
Growing up wasn’t exactly a runway of self-confidence for me. In fact, it was more like a season of “let’s see how many names and jokes we can throw at Jez today.” I was bullied a lot for how I looked, and in those fragile teen years, that stuff sticks. But then came my first destiny helper , my friend who didn’t just stand by me but actively became my shield and hype woman.
She was the type to show up with acne creams and say, “Girl, we’re fighting this together.” She’d sneak me tips on makeup, and when that failed, we’d invent remedies that half the time worked, and half the time just made us laugh at how ridiculous we looked. From sharing lunch boxes to late-night study groups to our endless walks home dissecting life like we were philosophers… she was more than a friend. She was a sister. And to teenage me, she was a safe space at a time I desperately needed one.
High school was just one battlefield, but then college said, “Hold my coffee.” Enter another group of destiny helpers: women who pulled me out of my shell and reminded me that my quirks, my personality, and even my asthma attacks were part of my story. (Yes, imagine them fanning me at 2 AM, half-asleep, still trying to pray and nurse me back to breathing properly. That’s sisterhood!)
These same women walked with me through spiritual rediscovery. They clapped the loudest when I decided to make a drastic change in my life. They prayed over me, waved me off when I moved away, and reminded me I was never alone. Sure, we had our differences , because let’s be honest, friendships aren’t always Instagram-aesthetic and #BestieGoals. But real destiny helpers don’t let you second-guess who you are. They show up, even when it’s inconvenient.
And then came adulthood, also known as “life with bills.” 😂 After COVID, I was desperate for a job, and guess what? Another helper appeared, someone who knew a friend who knew someone at a preschool. Suddenly, I had my first post-pandemic job. Now, was the workplace dreamy? Nope. But that season introduced me to another set of incredible women I still adore. One of them even became my application accountability partner, we’d sit after work scrolling through job listings like our lives depended on it (spoiler: they did). She’s the one who gave me the links that led to my current job.
To this day, she’s my sister in prayer, faith, and figuring out life’s plot twists.
💡 Life Lesson: People are bridges. Some help you cross turbulent waters, some show you a shortcut, and some simply stand by you when you’re too tired to walk. Never underestimate the value of community , no one makes it alone.
So here’s the thing: destiny helpers don’t always arrive with neon signs saying “This is your person!” Sometimes they come disguised as a seatmate, a neighbor, or even a stranger with an extra pen in class. And sometimes, they’re just the person who stays awake with you at 2 AM because breathing is suddenly a luxury.
I couldn’t mention everyone here (don’t worry, Part Two is loading ⏳), but if you’ve ever poured into me, prayed for me, helped me laugh at my mess, or pointed me toward God when I was lost , thank you. You’re part of my destiny story.
🌸 Motivation to you, dear reader: Cherish your helpers. Be one to others. And remember, life is less about “I made it” and more about “we made it.”
