Vibes, Auras & My Accidental Degree in Energy Farming
Vibes, Auras & My Accidental Degree in Energy Farming
You know how some people say “your vibe attracts your tribe”? Well, I grew up in a home where that was less of a quote and more of a lifestyle policy.
We were the “music on, doors open, dance floor in the kitchen” type of family. If there was a reason to celebrate, we were there — birthdays, weddings, graduations, someone just finished ironing all their laundry — we’d find a reason. And not the calm, “polite claps” kind of celebration. No. I’m talking full-on uncles with questionable dance moves, aunties holding plastic plates piled high with food, and me in the middle of it all — feeding off the energy like a sunflower in a summer field. ๐ป
That’s the thing — I’ve always been that “fun girl” who thrives when the vibes are right. You could put me in a room where people are shy and quiet, and I’ll either start making jokes, or I’ll find that one person whose energy matches mine, and suddenly we’re planning our next hangout before the night’s even over. You know it’s good when someone says after the first meetup: “So… what are we doing next?” That’s peak “vibes were vibing.”
But let’s talk “vibes” in plain language:
Vibes are those invisible threads that connect you to people or places without you needing to say much. It’s when the emotional Wi-Fi signal is strong. Aura, on the other hand, is more like your personal broadcast station — what you radiate before you even open your mouth.
Now, “aura farming” is the new social media buzzword. The idea is basically curating how you look, act, and present yourself to seem cool, confident, or mysterious — all so people think, Wow, they’ve got it together. It’s like leveling up your “cool points” in a video game, but in real life.
The irony? I think I’ve been accidentally aura farming my whole life without knowing it.
Example: In Japan, I’ll walk into the staff room in a vintage skirt and big earrings, and the teachers give me this curious smile. They probably think I planned my outfit three days in advance to give off a certain vibe. The truth? I was running late and just grabbed whatever made me feel happy enough to survive 5 back-to-back elementary school lessons.
Another example: My partner and I once went to a shoot, and the photographer told us, “You two just have this… presence.” He probably thought it was planned chemistry. Nope — that’s just what happens when two people feed off each other’s good vibes and add a dash of inside jokes no one else understands.
Here’s my take: vibes aren’t something you force, and auras can’t be faked for long. The real magic happens when you’re being yourself — unapologetically — and your energy naturally draws in the right people.
Because at the end of the day, good vibes are like cake at a party — they’re meant to be shared. And trust me, life’s too short to hang around people who bring paper plates to your cake table but never bring cake.
So whether you’re in a crowded wedding back home, sipping matcha in a quiet Tokyo tea house, or just sitting at home watching the sunset with the right playlist, remember: protect your vibe, farm your aura if you must, but above all — make sure it’s yours.
